Matched

I just finished reading Matched, by Ally Condie from SLC, UT (can I get a whoot whoot!)  I enjoyed this book immensely.
Cassia can't wait for her seventeenth birthday. For that is the day she will find out who she will marry. When her best friend appears on the matching screen, she couldn't be happier. Until another face flashes briefly on the screen.
In a society where everything is chosen for you, Cassia is caught between a life she has always known, or an unpaved road nobody dares to travel. Perfection, or passion. Which would you choose?

A Day in the Life. . .

5:45am- Alarm goes off. Wake up, Stumble over to my phone. Hit the snooze button.
6:00am- Alarm goes off again. Hit snooze button.
6:15am- Receive a friendly tap from my husband, reminding me to get up. Roll out of bed and do one of two things: Start a bath and fall asleep soaking in the hot water, or hide in my closet and fall asleep on the floor.
6:25am- Jump up and realize I need to be out the door in five minutes. Scramble to get dressed, brush teeth, grab makeup bag, straightener, and a cup of cereal.
6:30am- Run out the door. Spill milk on my shirt as I go.
7:00am- Get to work. Wait in my car so I don't have to converse with anyone (not a morning person). Do my makeup while listening to my favorite morning radio show (97.1 ZHT).
7:30am- Get in the big van and do my morning transport while still listening to my favorite morning show.
7:30am- 9:00am- Drive. Laugh out loud. Sing like I'm on American Idol. Dance like no one's watching, only to realize that someone is watching from the next car over. Then that someone taps their passenger on the shoulder and points in my direction. Punch the gas as soon as the light turns green.
9:00am- 1:59pm- Work, work, work. Make sure I'm kind and polite to the people I take care of, and the people I work with. Use up every ounce of my patience throughout that time.
2:00pm- Bolt out the door to my car. Blast the radio. Sing my heart out. Recharge my patience. Drive as fast as I legally can without getting pulled over.
2:30pm- Pull into my garage and give my kids hugs and kisses. Then get my kids food (even though their dad just fed them). Clean up after my kids snack.
2:30pm- 5:00pm- Listen to my kids talk about their day: who hit who, who took who's toy, who missed mommy the most, who just wanted another snack, who wanted a drink. . . "No, not the Buzz Lightyear cup. I want the Lightning McQueen cup with a straw please!" etc. etc. etc. Keep the house clean. Play outside on nice days (Yay for summer!)
5:00pm- Start dinner. Constantly listen to, "Mom, what are we having? I don't like that. When will it be done? Is it done yet?
5:30pm- 6:00pm- Feed kids. Make sure each kid gets the right color plate. Grab some food for myself. Sit down to eat. Right before I bring the fork to my mouth. . . "Mom can I have some more?", "Can we watch something on TV now?", "I'm done with my food. Could you get me a snack?"
6:30pm- 7:50pm Clean up after dinner. Put food away. Do the dishes. Wipe down the counters. Start the dishwasher. Tell the kids to pick up their toys and put them in the playroom. Wonder why we even have a playroom when the toys never stay in there.
7:50pm- Help the kids brush their teeth, get their pj's on, say their prayers, read a few books, sing a few songs. Tuck them in. Kiss their faces.
8:00pm- Who knows when- Kids are in bed. . . now what? Get on the computer? Draw? Write? Paint? Watch TV? Look at pictures of my kids? Just lay there, practically comatose? Depends on my mood and whether my husband is working a graveyard shift or not. (That is his actually shift again.) Well I guess you know what I decided to do tonight! Happy blogging everyone. What does your day look like?
